I tell myself I am not going to nervously check the time again. I have done it so much this past hour, probably more than I have done in a long while. I like to think I am calm and level-headed, so I rarely ever panic or get nervous, at least never obviously.

The bar is packed full tonight, and although this usually brings me joy, it is not drawing out the usual emotions from me tonight.

One of my bartenders is still out with the flu, and so I have to step in again behind the bar. . . .

Not that I mind; I actually find it a nice way to spend the night. I get to keep my eye on things and make sure everyone is good and safe. Also, making drinks and small talk with the customers are some of my favorite things to do.

But I was just not feeling it tonight. I expected Tanner would have been fit to return to work, but it turns out, he is still not feeling better. And as much as I feel sorry for him, I had to step in last minute even though I thought I would be able to make time to be with India.

That is, if she comes through. She should have already gotten off work. Or maybe she changed her mind and—Nah! With that look on her face when I left? She definitely feels the chemistry between us too. I’m certain she’s ready to also explore it.

A few minutes later, she shows up looking like a snack.

How does she look so effortlessly sexy? It’s as if she does know how irresistible she is. She has changed her top from her work store vest to a simple white camisole that teases with just a glimpse of the rise of her breasts. She rocks the black jeans that she had on earlier, and this time, she lets her hair fly free, just the way I love it.

I could see her looking around for me. I wave at her, and she makes her way to the bar to sit at the edge, which is right in front of me.

“Hey, beautiful. I was almost thinking you were not going to make it tonight.”

She chuckles as she puts her hand behind her hair. “No way I would not have. We have unfinished business, Liam,” she says with a wink that has me chuckling.

“Well, okay, India. I guess I made a rookie mistake earlier and forgot to ask for your number. I wanted to ask when you came in here last night, but you left, and I should have asked when I came into your store earlier, but I was just too distracted.”

“Really?” She rests her chin on her palm as she looks at me with mock surprise. “You got distracted, huh?”

I also lean closer till our heads were almost touching, our breath hot and mingled. “There is no way I can think clearly when you look at me like that.”

“Like how?” she questions in a hoarse voice thick with desire.
